Hack The Central District
From 2014 - 2016 Hack the Central District was an annual community hackathon that convened artists, creatives, chefs, developers, designers, educators and more to participate in the creation of businesses and community based solutions through design, entrepreneurship, and technology. Each year, participants focused on answering the question, "How might we create fertile ground for the African American community in Seattle to grow with the city's current tech boom?"
Seattle Startup Week 2016
The successes from Hack the Central District fueled the expansion beyond hackathons to produce more events that celebrate and support underrepresented entrepreneur worldwide. In Fall of 2016, Hack partnered with Seattle Startup Week to produce five events that directly highlighted and supported underrepresented entrepreneurs. To date we have worked with dozens of startups from places near (Portland, Los Angeles, Detroit and Atlanta) and far (Haiti, Liberia and Ethiopia).
We connect underrepresented entrepreneurs to resources in order to bridge the gap to access and opportunity.
We love what we do. Plain and simple. Somewhere between Hack the CD 2016 and Seattle Startup Week 2016 we decided that Hack Nation had to be a thing.
We have been gearing up for a dope lineup of programs and events for the second half of 2017, including Seattle Startup Week (October 2-6), Hack Seattle Conference (November 18-19) and handful of partner events and happenings. Check our calendar for more info!
